Single-pilot resource management (SRM)

Definitions

• The ability for a pilot to manage all resources effectively to ensure the outcome of the flight is successful.
• The art/science of managing all the resources (both on board the aircraft and from outside sources) available to a single pilot (before and during flight) to ensure that the successful outcome of the flight is never in doubt.
• The ability for crew or pilot to manage all resources effectively to ensure the outcome of the flight is successful.
• Area of human factors study that addresses application of management skills in the cockpit. Single pilots of small aircraft must make effective use of all available resources; human resources, hardware, and information.
